A discrete-time self-clocking complex electromechanical ??M gyroscope with quadrature error cancellation

Abstract In this work, a new self-clocking electromechanical sigma-delta modulator (??M) quadrature error cancellation scheme for MEMS mode-matching gyroscopes is presented. The proposed techniques allow to decompose the gyroscope sense mode into in- and quadrature-phase signals process it with two high-order control loops, achieving efficient noise shaping suppression. Furthermore, system was designed calibration provide temperature-independent turn-on bias output. Simulation results proved its robustness, significant improvement linearity over 80 dB attenuation of error. hardware implementation comprising discrete interface circuit wheel demonstrated. Measurement validate inherent loop demonstrate sub-1°/hr instability (BI), 5.5X 3X BI angle random walk (ARW) compared conventional single-loop ??M system. Combined real-time control, yields an turn on (1800s) output linearity, 1°/h 0.021 %, respectively.
